Unedollar kicks of Apps For Texas Today. The launch page was hosted www.appsfortexas.org using Unbounce. Last year getting involved at FeedScoop Events and other government technology events we ran into Open Data and DC catalog, looking at which we got completely excited to do the same in Texas. And here we go we ,now have open data for Texas available at Texas.Gov and we are trying to execute an event similar to Apps for Democracy. This event focuses in involving citizens for developing wide variety of apps leveraging the open data sets available with Texas government agencies. Unedollar is all excited to pursue this event as is the motto of the company to reduce money spent on technology using better process, technology and available free resources and here we are again “Trying to  save every dollar we can”.

A brief over of this event:

We would be coordinating with Gov agencies, local bodies supporting open source, many other technical support groups to organize a Dev Camp and leverage the developers talent to bring out the best apps (mobile, web). This is a contest which has reward of money and fame. The top winners choosen by the user polls and elected judges will be awarded the cash prizes in public and the fame received in participation is invaluable. We encourage all the developers out their to get engaged in this event and Rock Apps for Texas!

It would a great challenge to migrate State Government Infrastructure to Nebula or even implement similar Private Cloud Network for all the State Agencies. The biggest decision to be made is whether to integrate the multiple state departments Vertically as per the business processes like Employee/Workforce Management, Public Records, Infrastructure Management, Vendor Management, Customer Management, RFP Management  etc, into a single cloud using a SaaS based application as per their vertical or to push all the applications for each individual State in to their own Private Cloud forming a Network connecting Private Cloud of each State.

The adoption of Cloud Computing by the Govt. is the most challenging  as the worlds largest systems will be going a major shift. The transition of this phase would lead us to the next big technology change in the world and even more innovative contributions from the industry.

Vivek Kundra has already achieved a great success with the data.gov and the IT Dashboard, which in-turn gave birth to Apps for Democracy an initiative in Washington, DC yielded 47 web, iPhone and Facebook applications from residents in 30 days worth of $2,300,000 in value to the city at a cost of $50,000. This is one of the biggest example one can use to predict how the technology transformation would change the Socio-Political Society.
